I wouldn't give up either.. I think OKC from what the guy who gave me my road test said is always hiring, they have a hard time keeping people. That might be bad sign as well??? I wish you well.

Jake (or anyone else), do you know much about the Manheim, PA terminal? I'm guessing you've probably been there, given your location. I'm curious how many units they have there, what the docks may be like, drivers/dock workers (if you've talked to any of them), etc. Any info you have on it would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to get into LTL and have a couple of options at the moment, but want to make the right decision.

    Thanks.

Go to another LTL if you have the chance. Estes or Old D.

Here you will be nothing but a certified dock workworker with a CDL

Really? Not much chance of driving for a new guy at your center? I wonder if that's the general situation across the board. I would not mind working the dock most of the time if I can get 40 hours in, as long as there is the potential for driving somewhere down the line.

I just ask because there's a Con-way terminal within 5 minutes of where I live and if things look promising there I'd be interested in applying. They are apparently hiring, too. I have an app in with another LTL carrier, with an interview coming up, but that will require a 25 to 30 minute commute. That may get old, especially the return commute after a long night.

my center now is a little different than most. We are a relay/small FAC as well. We just added a run and a guy who has been there like 3 months has it. My old terminal wasnt like that. Small term,6 bids and two extras. Needless to say I was getting around 30 hrs a week.

No Im doing 60+ weekly. All depends on the freight lane by that terminal. is the terminal you are close to Milton?

No, the terminal near me is in Mount Joy, PA and it appears to be a relatively small one. Milton is about 100 mi. to the north. This is generally a good area for freight as most major truckload carriers have terminals within a 50-60 mile radius of here, mostly around the Harrisburg area. There used to be a Roadway and Yellow in the immediate area, but NEMF, A. Duie Pyle, YRC, Estes, Old Dominion, ABF, two UPSF terminals, FedEx Freight, etc... all in the area. There's also the Baltimore/DC area, Philly, Pittsburg, NYC and Richmond all within about 200 miles of here. Trucking jobs are plentiful in this part of the state.

My advice, try OD and A duie before you try here brother. Just my opinion If its a small term then you might be hurting for work especially after thanksgiving when it gets painfully slow. Milton is a pretty big facility and more opportunities for work there. But unless you have some time in, youll be on a tow motor alot, and I mean alot

My advice: ABF,OD,Estes A Duie,UPSF, and Fedex. ABF is pretty #### picky so make sure all your ducks are in a row before applying there.

Anybody have info on the Toledo terminal? I might be applying soon as ive been paying my dues with the truckload side of Conway. It seems they do a lot of triple hauling across 80. Any input would be great.
