This is the biggest factor right here.....I regularly haul for a couple of brokers that give me a much higher rate ($.30 to $.40) to haul than they will pay a guy that's calling on a posted load because they know that they can put me on the load and "forget about it".

They also have customers that ask for me by name because they know that I'll take better care of their product and deliver better service overall that many other truckers will.

    All we sell is service!
If our service sucks.....Our rates will suffer!:yes2557:

CRST Malone is only flatbed. It would be better for you to go with a reefer or van carrier if you want to eventually pull that type of freight. Whatever you want to pull under your own authority, it would be better to go with that type of carrier so that you can learn about that aspect of the business on their dime. If you want to pull flats, then CRST Malone would be a good start.

It doesn't take that long for authority to go through. Why would you go to all the expense of getting started with a company then leave in 3-weeks. It will take a week to just get rolling with orientation and all when looking at the big carriers.

Then you got to get back to their shop and get all the lettering and equipment out.

And G/Man is right. Better to pull what you plan on pulling when you are independent.
