I pull a Flatbed,(my own authority).......
I average $1.95 per mile on ALL MILES including empty.
You really have to average near $2.00 per mile to profit nicely
And dont believe everything you hear folks...............i hear $3.00-$4.00 per mile on 1100 mile trips on legal loads......Rare does that happen.Too competitive of a business
Iknow the Reefer business pays a lil better.....But not my cup of tea. Too much loading/unloading/waiting/ perishable Claims/etc -
It's just a rat race with the reefer business anymore lots of work we do a lot of dedicated loads so not that bad,I use to run the usa not since 1989 now I run from toronto ontario to three western provinces and steady miles around 6500 every two weeks
-
We have dedicated outbound contracts i pick the lanes . I i want to run ....,unless they are in a jam then well i get as much as i can
-
......................

Same here for. the most part once I get out west then I can pick and choose that way I can max my miles for two wks then home for 3 or 4 days
-
Are these rates from owner operators leased on or individuals with their own authority taking from brokers/directly from shippers?
-
I'm leased on with the company I work for
-
We're leased onto a mega right now. Get 1.30plus 45 for. Thankfully there is a nice left over from the fsc we keep. That is coming out of good ol commifornya
-
I would get that rate if I was running the usa but I don't anymore, I haven't since 1989
