The only reason I knew about the Deere/ Detroit.. motor is because my neighbor worked for Deere and he filled me in..
He comes over alot and we drink beers and lie to each other about Cat vs Deere .. he is all about the 60 series Detroits.. that's usually when I have to start to monitor his beer intake ..lol

 

Same here. 5EK, 4.10 gears with tall 24s. I run 16-1700 rpm when I'm on the big road doing 70-75mph. Just pulled a load grossing 79,111 through the hills and back empty and got 6.12mpg for the turn. Not a flat stretch of road for the entire 925 mile trip.

I think that’s when I’d be poking him with the hard truths. Like Detroit only needed the Series 60 so they’d have a 4 stroke 430 for the 350 Cats to run away from too. That usually revs the Detroit guys up pretty good. The first of the Series 60 430’s were down a couple hundred ft/lb’s to a 3406@350hp, same as the 8V-92’s we’re.
