My husband and I were put in a new Freightliner Cascadia by our company. Our company maintains 89 + Kenworths. This was the new "test" truck for the company, to see if going with some Freightliners was a possibility. It only has a little over 100,000 miles on it-not impressive for team running. We are usually in a rental or another company truck due to the fact that "test" truck is usually in the shop being "diagnosed" with yet an ongoing, unsolved problem or new problem. Our company is not impressed with the service Freightliner, local or not, offers. Yes, we did break down near Ashland, Ohio, on I 71 at 38,000 miles. Yes we did have the pleasure of dealing with the Columbus, Ohio branch. DUH!!
On the flip side Mansfield Ohio Freightliner was surprisingly helpful, once they re-opened on Monday. However, despite having more than 150 trucks down with the same problem, the blame game ensued.
I will not go into all the mechanical issues that we have gone through, but will tell you that it is still is raining inside of the cab---going on 8 months now. Now it rains inside of the cab, when we are not running in rain. Yes, they have had the windshield out several times, resealed, etc. UNBELIEVABLE. Currently, is at the local Freightliner being diagnosed for why it doesn't start, when left sitting for a few hours.
Losing prime, however after a week and a half still not diagnosed. Need to leave tomorrow AM---still at Freighliner!

Raining inside the cab. Well at least that hasn't happened yet. I have heard about this from a team I know at a large trucking company. I don't know what the heck is going on inside Freightliner right now, but they have clearly been sending the message down the chain of command that it is ok to skimp on repairs. I haven't talked to a repair tech yet that appreciates the lack of money Freightliner is doling out to find and fix the problems they are having. I don't blame the workers, I blame their corporate structure because if they weren't having the problems they are having, then everyone's issues would be gladly handled right the first time. Someone somewhere is cutting back and it is going to cost them in the long run.

Thanks!! Just called Freightliner---Won't be ready tomorrow!! Being diagnosed. Live an hour and a half from Freightliner--It's probably still sitting in parking lot of Freightliner dealership. Husband said to print this stuff out and will take it and turn it in to companies lead shop supervisor. Very nice and quiet guy, till he gets mad!!! And yes, it is a dd15.

Now you have me laughing!!! They don't know. It's in the "diagnosing" stage. It has been that way for awhile now. It was taken in a few months back for the same problem. They came up with nothing and billed the company $400 +. This last time, it was in for another problem--and they had a hard time getting it started--so???!!!
On a happy note, we are so happy to be company drivers. We would not be happy right now, if we actually owned this truck.
It is a great team truck, when not having to be worked on or being "diagnosed". I am thinking that Polar Bear may be on to something. Sounds to me like its a case of who is going to pay for the defect.

thier is alot of troubleshooting to a dd15. they should be able to call detroit and they will help them along the way. now i have had some problems that have stumped the people at detroit and been transferred over to talk to the engineers. if it is a warrentable failure then the manufacture will cover as long as it is still under warrenty. and make sure to always run the fuel filter the manufacture recommends on all newer engines.

Yup, fuel filters--everything up to hoyle!!! Now, as far as we know, its under warranty--however--think we are back to the "diagnosing" to find out if its warranty issue or if it is a fight between Freightliner and Detroit. Definitely under warranty the first time. As you know, we have to maintain a sense of humour here or we'd (drivers) go nuts.

Living like vagabonds, jumping from truck to truck is not exciting. I don't know, but since they will obviously have it for another 4-5 days--do you think we should have them make good on the expensive refrigerator that was bought through them, installed by them, and now is shaking loose. (We are not spoiled, but this investment was necessary as husband is on medication that needs to be refrigerated at a constant temperature.):biggrin_2551: Side trims won't even stay on. I am almost afraid to have them address this as I so miss my truck.

detroit and freightliner won't fight about who is paying for it. detroit part number detroit pays freightliner part freightliner pays. sounds to me its not figured out yet what is wrong.. and yes i would tell them about the fridge. the sooner u tell them the better..

Ah ####** there goes another week down!! (Fridge). Agree though, got to find out what it is first??!! Some how, hints, etc.
By the way, have you run into any info about the new bio diesel that Pilot truck stops are now doing. We just ran into it (saw the additional green sticker)--talked with our company shop guy--he said no, do not put that in. We haven't, but what is it. We have to run through Indiana and Ohio alot. Napoleon, OH was the first time we saw this on the USLD pumps. Ours is the 1 per 15 parts--course we didn't have the truck it would pertain to--Cascadia was being diagnosed then. Had an older T2000. Sort of stumped us.
