The Argosy is basically a Century with no hood. Not many were made and it's rare to see one out on the road. I saw one last year pulling a flat bed through Nebraska. I think it was being used for some oil field work by the type of flat bed it was pulling.

The thing to consider if in fact you do find a deal on one to run, is that it may be tougher finding parts when you are away from the house.

As you can see by my Avatar, I am a proud Argosy owner, since new a 2000 model.
1. They are still in production at the Freightliner plant in Cleveland NC.
2. Freightliner decided not to update to the 2007 and later emissions in NorthAmerica citing a demand of about 4% of the over the road market.
3. They do export them all over the world, both LHD and RHD, lots to Australia. Google Freightliner Australia for pictures of the latest version.
4. You can get a glider kit with a reman Detroit Diesel series 60 installed at the plant, build the rest yourself. My local dealer is building 2 of them for TV production company in NYC.
I get lots of loads with my 168" WB light (19000#) tractor. Several of our customers routinely ask for my truck because of the special qualities it has, and I get high revenue for that service. I believe that is the reason we are out here.Big_D409 and VagabondTrucker Thank this. -

I see some Argosy here, but made befor 2007. But they build Inter 9800 near St. Petersburg. They make European version of 9800, with ECE headlamps, yellow tail dir. light and Euro-III calibrated Cummins ISL ore ISX.
About hystory of Argosy... They wanted to use Mercedes Actros Megaspace cabine project (full size cabine, wide - 2.5m) but... Actros is V6/V8 powered, used in the USA OM457/460 engines and ISX, DD S60, Cat are all six in line and taller V8! But Megaspase cabine has flat floor and cant be installed on Freighliner chassis!
What did they do? HAH! lets do like Renault did with Magnum! First who build this kind of cabine was MAZ (Minsk, Byelorussia) in end of 70-s....
We call this type of trucks Cabine on Pedestal! I hate to work in this kind of trucks!
But the cabine is very roomy!
As you can see Mercedes cabine floor is not so high.
Anyway drivers here do not like argosy. So this is rare truck -
Argosy is a nice truck with lot's of room. However I do like a hood in front just in case.

I gonna purchase truck next year, and I wanna long nose one! -

Not all shippers and recievers have a nice loading dock just off the street. Some dont even have the street.
