You gotta hold on to your door when opening so the wind doesn't grab it and slam it against the stop which is what cracks the piece. And be gentle when the wind ain't blowing.

yup i noticed they are really delicate in that area. what a crappy design they should have made a type of strap like the petes have.
-
anyone have a pair of freightliner doors, 97 and or newer style little play good handles and unbroken plastic piece. dont need door panels or mirrors. Would prefer a non view window pass door if possible.
-
i wish i could use pete doors on my truck someone said they fit but the outside edge of door has to be grinded down to make fit in opening.
-
well i measured the the pete doors and for sure they wont fir without heavy modding so im going to need to see about rebuilding my doors or putting newer fld or classic doors on it. i just like my pass door without the sight window.

If you rebuild the door do it right the first time and you won't have to do it again. Take it off and lay it flat on something to make sure it isn't tweeked, if it is straighten it out. To do that you'll have to strip the door down to the frame and outer door panel. When you start putting it back together make sure it is level and as your are assembling it keep an eye on it to make sure it isn't getting twisted or bent.
Put new window and door seals on it. Check the door hinge if it is looking wore, replace it!
Basically you will replace everything in that door that is bolted on just so you don't have to tear it apart at a later date. You'll also need a bunch of little metal screws to bolt on the inner door panel. Make sure they bolt up tight.
