Those Cascadia hood latches are stupid. Always takes me both hands to get the darn things to latch back up. Perhaps I've gotten lazy, with our Volvo's and their car-style hood latch setup.
The Eaton AMT's are truly terrible, especially if you're (again) spoiled by Volvo's 12-speed paired with a Volvo engine. 4 of our CNG Volvo's have the Eaton 10spd and the senior guys hate them, so I wind up with them. A lot. I'm in one today actually. -
ill agree the new fright-liners' ergonomic qualities are severely lacking. i don't like anything about them except the controls on the steering wheel.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
a CNG truck with an Eaton 10 speed auto?
I would call off or quit on the spot.
or demand a doubling of pay for the day
what a hunk of poo. -
But, but....
They have nice wide cabs.

They're not that bad actually. Our CNG trucks are set at 400/1450. The Eaton is irritating, for sure, but it holds speed better than our CNG/Allison rigs due to a few more gear ratios. Company policy is that all CNG trucks must be used before any diesels leave the yard (dependent on the run of course).
It's no Western Star Lowmax with a 515hp Series 60 Detroit and a 13spd, but I'll deal with a little bit of nonsense to gross $1/mile on a company gig.Mike2633, Bob Dobalina and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
No doubt. Any time someone knocks a gig based solely on the truck, I think it's so shortsighted. I'll gladly drive an old workhorse with high miles or (in my case) a highly castrated Prostar with an automatic if the money is right.

The steering wheel controls are pretty nice I'll give them that.Dave_in_AZ and JReding Thank this.

Maybe I'm (we're) just weird, I don't know...
Our fleet I comprised of three 2017 daycabs and the rest all 2018s.
I have one of the 2017s, and I'm very happy with it. It's the snubnose with the DD13 and DT12 auto (not Eaton). The 2018s are the same setup, except for longer hood, and of course the redesigned cab. Mine has about a foot shorter wheelbase, and a passenger side air seat, the others have bolted down passenger seats.
I'm about average, 5'10" and about 210 pounds (yeah, I know, I need to lose about 30 pounds, like yesterday!). As far as I'm concerned, the cabs have plenty of room, especially vertically.
I am not, however, a fan of the newer ones aesthetically. That's why I'm still driving my 2017, even though I could have taken one of the newest ones.Dave_in_AZ, MACK E-6 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
One thing our guys with the 2018s discovered is to disable the hill assist when backing, they say it really smooths out their backing.
