Freightliner cascadia Spring bushing

On the rear if the new bushing starts to slid in easy, like by hand. The spring is shot and won't hold a bushing. If the spring is good bushing will last 7-800k.

I recommend nomally to just change springs at that point on a Airliner.

 

Ok im gone head back to shop and see. They not done with it yet. I appreciate that input.

Well my experience is on the road. But yea. Most of the time, by the time they are worn. So is the spring.

Sound like you were putting new bushings in worn springs. Or just really hard on them.

Op how many miles do you have on the unit? And is this its first rebush?

 

514,000 on miles. I bought truck with 300 thousand miles on its. So this is probably first rebush

 

Some dealers still have the old ones on the shelf. I'm getting ready to install this one as soon as I finish setting up a 20 ton shop press I purchased today.

 

Mark the orientation of the old bushing before removal so you can line up the new one. Otherwise it is a royal b###h to get the bolts back thru it and the hanger.

 

Already thought of that.

 

Interesting....those bushing housings don't look as "shiny" as the green dot ones I have. I wonder if the shiny-ness was part of the more extensive corrosion protection. Like it was sprayed with lacquer of some sort.

 

The one I pushed out was different than that one in the picture I pushed in.
