But dont worry, you get used to tinnitus over time. It only drives you crazy when you think about it.

Coming from a guy the regularly drives a 1995 FL Classic, I think you are crazy to think a FL looks better than a KW or Pete hood.

I'm probably the biggest fan of the FLD models. I can tell you the door problems are very common.

I myself am not a big fan of the classics, though. I looked at one one time but the hood was so #### big it was kind of hard to get it open. It could have been just that truck... but that is a lot of hood. I would think that because the fenders are made into it there are more opportunities for it to crack than the set-back axle.

They are a very nice looking truck, but I don't like the set forward axle. I have an fld120 with a set-back axle. The first time I drove a full size FLD with a set-back axle, I was shocked at how easily I could back that truck in. Never in my life have I driven anything that large that it was so easy to back in. No truck that I have ever driven backs in as well as an FLD with a set-back axle.. None. I think it's a huge difference from the set forward axle to the set-back axle.

But I really like the FLD model. I like the nice padded interior, not like the new plastic junk. I like the way the dash wraps around me and the air brake controls are right there. Some trucks you have to bend over to work them. They put the radio in exactly the right spot so you don't have to move an inch. I've never been in a truck that the tilt steering wheel has such a wide range not only up and down but in and out. I even like the way the steering wheel feels in my hands. I like where the shifter is and I even like the floor padding. Everything in that truck is made to be at your fingertips.

I like that the unibilt sleeper gives you room behind the driver's seat, so the seat doesn't hit the back. I used to run one that had a. fully reclining seat that you actually could recline it and lay down in the driver's seat, so if you just had to wait 5 minutes for your paperwork or whatever you could recline back further than the sitting position and relax without having to get into the bunk. You can't do that with the Peterbilt walk through sleeper.

I think these trucks hold the road better than any truck when the front end is right. The Airliner suspension is the greatest of all time. Whoever created that was absolutely brilliant. Those Trucks ride so nicely. I even drove one for a while that was a single axle that Rode better than I ever could have imagined.

I have done a lot of work on freightliner trucks and I really like how they are made, the FLD model anyway.

And if you have a Freightliner and you get set up with dtna connect you have all the parts schematics and virtually all the part numbers for your truck that you need to buy parts.

I'm sure someone will have something smart to say, but here's the best part. The Freightliner FLD models have that Freightliner smell. It's in the foam padding that's behind the interior and maybe other places too. But no matter how old the truck that smell stays with it. It's like a built-in new truck fragrance.

Didn't mean to make such a long post, but the FLD model for me really is #1.

I had An 05 classic with a 60series. My favorite truck. The longer wheelbase rides better, the cab is poorly insulated but that's fixable (I did it on my current Columbia glider) and it makes a huge difference.
