I am one that is putting trucking behind me after over 20 years. I’ll be 40 this year and I personally do not want to reach retirement doing this. Signed my offer letter last week as an operator for a major natural gas gathering company. Trucking can’t compete with what others have to offer anymore because there’s always someone that will do it for less.

You forgot safe rooms at the terminal in case someone gets their feeling hurt.

Not really that unfortunate. It HAS to happen for the market to be stable. The industry USUALLY operates on about an 18 month to 2 year cycle. Up until this one, it has been pretty consistent. This time, the market stayed up for too long, and it got to the point where you could do almost everything wrong, and still make money. This is the correction that a lot of people have been warning about for over 2 years. This correction should have happened around the Spring of 2020, but due to Gov't intervention, it was delayed. Now is the time for all of the dead weight that was just playing at trucking to fold their tents and go home. Pretty soon ,the market will be flodded with used trucks, and the prices will go down. With the decrease in capacity, the rates will start to go back up. If the Gov't stays the hell out of it, the market SHOULD return to a more normal cyclical pattern.bzinger, JoeyJunk and drvrtech77 Thank this.

I don't know, when you take a look around out here, those wearing flip flops and Vladimir in his track suit look to stupid to do anything else except sit behind the wheel all day.
They'll just keep speeding down the road to hopefully get that 1 extra load in for the week and hopefully make it a productive one.Short Fuse EOD, bzinger and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Not really much different than the home grown dumb ####s that drive the same way for the same reason. Then yell on the CB at all the "rookies" that aren't doing 80mph, saying dumb stupid #### like "if the wheels ain't turnin..." (you know the rest) They act like they are in a race. I one time pulled out of Grand Island, NE headed to Long Beach, CA, and this dude pulled out behind me, tailgated me all they way to I-80, and cut across to the fast lane and blew his horn at me for daring to not have the pedal glued to the floor. This fool passed me at least 10 times that day. And I got to Grand Junction, got fuel, and then parked.... and here he comes screaming in, cuts behind someone that is backing into a spot, and parks about 3 spaces from me.... 30 minutes after I got there. I asked him how I managed to beat him here when I am in a "slow truck"... he gave me the usual "I have been driving for 44 years" speech. I bet if I had let him continue, he would have started blaming brokers for his inability to make money.Long FLD, mjd4277, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this.
