Hey everyone, I've been reading posts here for a while before making an account, and I've read a lot of helpful hints that I hope will be useful out on the road. I finished my CDL A classes a couple weeks ago, and I"m sitting at the hotel waiting for orientation to start tomorrow for Schneider. Very excited to get started, and just wanted to say hi to everyone on here, and maybe post some of my own stories and insight when I get some experience.
Freshly printed license, jumping into orientation

Looking forward to hearing your experiences.
Couldn't get anyone but CRST and Watkins Shepard to look at me after school.
Unemployed too long, too long of a driving record (early 90's )blah blah blah. Highest scores in a class of 20 and nada. A recruiter from another company called WS and cashed in a favor for me. Ended up finding a local job the day before I had to commit to WS. Not even driving, locating underground utilities. That job led opened a door to another where I drove a 2007 International tandem that carried two reels of cable and a cool 25,000lb winch. That job led me to my current where I was able to get into dump trucks. I have always wanted to drive trucks but especially dump trucks. Started off in a 4axel and and now learning to drive a 24' dump trailer.
Good luck in orientation and your first few weeks on the road. Hopefully Schneider treats you well.
Keep us posted. -
