Why is California so expensive other than the cost of housing because everyone wants to live there and state taxes?

    Why is California so broke?

Yea I did a little googling. Seems the state pensions are 1/3 of the budget.

BS people work 20 years and get a state pension for another 40-50 years .

Numbers don't work that's why many private companies no longer have pensions.

Correct chp officers and other state jobs you work 20 years and are eligible for pension. Those expenses come crumbling down to the tax payers.

200k in Texas would buy you a nice 2000+ sqft home, brand new, with upgraded materials and appliances... Texas property taxes can get pretty high, unless you live outside of city limits. Local fuel delivery is always hiring here.

    I live in Modesto.
    It's not terrible.
Paid 85k for my house 7 years ago.
    Worth twice that now.
I am not interested in living in FL.
