What about the company and personal taxes.
Personal taxes??? You've got to pay yourself something first!
The numbers quoted above may cover the cost of a truck, but certainly don't reflect reality.
Think of all of the things you have to pay for in order to move that truck down the road... I noticed a nice little fairy-tale view of the world with $0 posted for items like scale tickets, workman's comp insurance, additives (anti-gel,) etc. How about laying back some pennies per mile for eventual tractor replacement?
Then there's the entire issue of employee compensation. That's right... you have to consider the driver (you) as an employee. So there's all of the other "bennies" we like to have including medical insurance, wages, vacation. You start throwing that in and you're north of $1.50 to $1.60 per mile real quick... assuming you, the CEO, is a real tightwad ($31k is going to keep you in ramyen!) when it comes to employee compensation.

Im currently paying my dues, keeping my eyes open and my mouth shut, shiny side up. If I were not so COSMICALLY stupid i'd have my own rig now, but that's water over the dam. I got a little ways to go yet, but I dont want to run for free or cheap if I can avoid it. Thanks everyone for all their help as I have no desire to lose my butt ( again ) i'm getting too old. God bless all.
