Are starting at the Rosenberg plant? Because I know they are starting the GES process soon and to my knowledge are the only plant using 59' trailers

Yes I hear what you are saying,No job is perfect you half to look at everything as a whole and decide from there,I do know that they sure are'nt many companies out there who pay as much as Frito,I been trying just to get a app in for 3 1/2 years and just recently was able to do that,From all I have learned they hire abt. 1 out of 7 drivers they interview,Good Luck if you decide to go to work for them and get the chance.I assume you have already looked at the good info that has been sent to me on here abt. Frito,If they call me I an NOT going to pass this job up forsure,Good Luck
QUOTE=BigHomie030;3228528]I just went to an interview with Frito Lay yesterday. The pay is .51cpm .09 per case 10.50 per stop $75 layover and you get benefits starting on your first day you get hired. Also I was told by the bottom driver there he claimed he made 72k his first year and his only been there a year and a half. He also claims that this is a real physical job even though I say its only chips. But he might be right because even though its just chips when your talking about a 53,57, and or 59 ft trailer full of them then ur talking a lot of work! Yes management also said they are going to the new GS system in about 2 weeks they are finishing up the new plant to start the new delivery system. That driver I spoke with said you get 3 weeks your first year of vacation and your eligible to sale 1 week per year and you have to take the other 2. The downside is he says he works EVERY weekend and Every holiday except Christmas and turkey day. And believe it or not there is a slow season at Frito lay and its all seniority based. So there's a lot of good but also some bad. The equipment is 80% Volvo 2002's automatic and a couple rentals they have 53,57 and even 59 ft trailers. They said eventually all there trucks will be automatics and that if you do have a layover stay you will be compensated for the hotel you stay at. They do have half sleeper births but they do provide you with a card to stay at a hotel or you can get one of your choice and if you pay for it or they will reimburse you. They also cover $5 of your meals. The 401k is matched at 4% and I think that's about it. I don't know it seemed good to me the pay and benefits but that schedule man it just seems like you wont have a life to enjoy those benefits. I mean I know my wife will enjoy it but Ill be too busy to enjoy them. Don't know about it yet. They said they would call me if they where interested.[/QUOTE] -
They are just two pedal automatics with push button controls. They are weird to back up to docks the first few times you'll slam the dock a few times. Also the automatics will skip shift which is weird the first time you drive one. You might deliver to my DC one day but I know you'll deliver to the new orleans DC regularly.

I don't like the on call come in when we need u flex board schedule but the pay is really good its hard to resist. I also don't like the automatics. The driver I talked to there said he had been trying to get in for the past 5 yrs before he got hired. He said he even said a prayer before he did his interview.

Well got a letter in the mail today was not good news, not going to hire me at this time.Have 21 years exp.No violations ever, no tickets ever,1 minor at fault accident was not ticketed for,and did not go on my record, clean mvr and psp, been with present employer 20 years, don't know what else anyone could ask for in a driver.Hey it's their loss, maybe I apply at Walmart when i am 65
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
Sorry to hear that you didn't get the job. That's strange you didn't get picked up the drivers from Perry told me that they hired one driver that didn't know how to drive a manual transmission and another that couldn't back up a trailer. You could try to get on with another plant there are three plants in Tennessee they are the ATCO plant in Memphis, Pulaski, and one more I can't recall.

That don't surprize me a bit, that is pitiful, and they call their self truck drivers, yea right;and NEGATIVE I am done with frito.

It sounds like they didnt hire u because u might be to over qualified pete. Plus they like to hire younger less experienced drivers to because they know they probably are more likely to go thru the senority based board they run and not have to worry about an older guy quitting because his not making enough or good runs. They have older guys who have been there for 20,30 & even 40 years. So it dont make sense to hire an experienced driver like u who is gna want good runs all the time and u should expect it because u have plenty of experience. The younger less experience guys wont be complain or ask for much since they are barely getting started. They just sent me a release form for me to sign so they can verify my employment at my current job. I id the interview this past saturday.

I'd try to get on with wal-mart since frito lay didn't hire you. You have the experience and with everything you bring to the table you might get on with them but i've heard its a long wait to get on with them because their turn over rate is under 3%
