Two different scenarios, but at my stage of life, I wouldn’t move an inch for a job. I wouldn’t care how much they’re paying in relocation monies. I’m good where I’m at.

What a ####ing ignorant post. Wow.

Dude, if you own a home, look at the value (you can use the Zillow app for a ballpark estimate) of your home in 2024, compared to 2019. Now do the math and see what percentage your home has appreciated in 5 years.

Now after you notice that your house has appreciated 50% - doubling in value over the course of 5 years, go look up the interest rates from 5 years ago and then look at the interest rates today. Yep, you guessed it, interest rates have doubled too.

Now tell me how young people are supposed to keep up salary wise and savings wise with that.

A fun game I like to play: Anybody who bought a home before 2020, plug in the numbers in 2024 based off your home value and the present day interest rate, and see if YOU personally could afford your own home that you live in if you were buying it in 2024.

But yeah, go ahead and talk about how young people "want everything handed to them."

The constant ####ting on the younger generations on this forum by a lot you bitter boomers gets so ####ing old.

Sometimes the truth hurts, no? Grow up and quit whining. None of us are your mommy and daddy. We have neither the time nor the the inclination to wipe your butt for you.

When I bought my first house in 1980 at the age of 18, mortgage rates were 17% I was able to find a dump of a house that the seller financed at only 15%. You could stand in the living room and see the sky, there were no skylights. I lived in one room at a time while remodeling it. Sold it a couple of years later and bought another that was nearly as bad. Kept moving up slowly. It's called sacrifice and that is how you get ahead.

This "driver" who just got his CDL, expects Frito Lay to buy him a house, or an apartment.

Never had an employer do that, nor would I "expect" an employer to do that.
Many young people want the biggest and the best, from the start. My first home? 9% interest rate.1986, 900 SF. I was making $5.75 an hour in an ATT warehouse. My wife was making about $7.00 making wiring harnesses. But even at that pay rate, she managed to save a sizable down payment. It's called living on less than you make. We both had old cars, paid for, she had a 79 Monte Carlo, I had a 1980 Ford pickup. We didn't have the newest TV, or entertainment center (cell phones pretty much non existant those days). We scrimped and saved.

Ya know what's getting ####### old? People wanting everything NOW. Not paying your dues, by driving an old car, or having a cell phone that's a few years old. Starting at the bottom, with crap runs. Working your way up to a better situation. No I WANT IT ALL NOW!

My goodness......calling them out. So unlike you @Lonesome. But every word is true.
We didn't get here because we 'wished' to be here, we got here because we worked to get here.

I wished someone gave me a house in order to work for them. Instead, I had to go out and earn it.
