Sounds like drivers that get hired on with Celadon don't have many issues. We spoke with a recruiter the other day. Insurance is less per week than where we are now ($76 currently for driver only), pay is only .32 but miles are supposedly 2000 - 2500 per week average. Home every week for SE regional drivers too.

It seems like Celadon buys the other companies for the trucks, trailers, and possibly facilities but the employees are "extra". IMO, if an employee isn't willing to adhere to new rules or do what the new company wants or isn't a team player then they don't need to be there anyways. Buying up companies isn't about the people unfortunately. Sad, but true.

Actually, Celadon buys other companies for their customers. They don't keep the equipment- they just put it up for sale.

And they need to keep some of the drivers, at least initially, or they wouldn't be able to service those customers. It takes time to bring in a bunch of new drivers to a company. I'm sure they expect to shed drivers from a buy-out, but they do it more gradually so those drivers can be replaced as they leave.

Celadon is a mega carrier, just like every other mega carrier, but they held true to their word about keeping the GM pay rate, and I've been getting good miles as long as I stay out of the northeast. I see no reason to rush in finding another job, but I don't see myself here for the duration of my trucking career, either.

    I heard a rumor :biggrin_25523:

There are only 27 Glen Moore drivers left at Celadon.

Yep only 27 left. The insurance is absolute crap and more money then we were paying at Glen Moore. Much happier where I swtiched to. I get home, they pay holidays and get you home for them. And when I told them my wife was pregnant and due in June they said no problem, you'll be home and kept close. Not like Celadon, who told me so what! I had to fight the get my deposit back. They claimed I dumped the truck. Good thing I took pictures and got everyone to sign for everything before I left Greensboro! Bad thing is Glen Moore and Celadon aren't are DAC anymore so keep anything you have for proof of employment. I can imagine why anyone would stay with Celadon, they are crap!

So did you put in a home time request for June? I've never had a problem getting home when I follow their procedures and put in a time off request in advance. I may not get home right on the date I request but it's been close, usually a day earlier or a day later but I still got home.
