My fm told me about the buyout last thursday. hr told me to go strait to indy for orientation.. when i asked him if i could have some time to think about it and run untill christmas.. he said i could think about it on my way to indy.. what a joke,, i would have given this company noticeif i had decided to quit out of respect.. this is whats wrong with this industry today.. drivers are no different than a wrench in a mechanics tool box drivers are not appritiated and treated like humans..

I am finally ready to move. Let's hope it is first thing in the morning. No mileage for the week, at Christmas. My wife is stressing out, which isn't good she's 5 months pregnant and worried about paying the mortgage and doctor bills. I am really hoping the application I put in at Waste Management at the begin of the month comes through after the first. With 2 kids and a third on the way, I need to make money and be home! And I can't say I will miss the road.

You think the Celedon drivers have issues now, what will happen when they find out how much more the old GM drivers are getting paid per mile. Just a hint its not even on there chart.

The Celadon drivers also get benefits that we won't, or we will have to pay more for them, because of our higher pay rate. That $600 in 30,000 miles (which works out to 2cpm) we won't get. Also, the extra benefits, like disability and life insurance will cost us more if we want it. So we still come out ahead, but not as far ahead as it seems.

Higher pay rate, brand new truck, Canada is voluntary- all concessions offered to GM drivers. All makes me wonder if they really plan to keep us.

    1nonly,

You wouldn't have gotten a Celadon truck and ID badge/comdata card if they didn't plan on keeping you. Trust me this is not the first buy out I have worked for Celadon through. There is a lot of confusion right now for you guys and a lot of unanswered questions, but it will get better. You would think after the first couple buy outs they would have all the bugs worked out but they haven't. lol
