I have a question about the soda thing.

What about something like sprite zero? It has no calories which is good for my diet thing and it is also caffine free?

Other than that possibility, what is a good drink for low sodium other than water? Unfortunately I am one of those people that HATES water. I try and force myself to drink it as much as I can but I need to find something else that I can drink sometimes too.

I am keeping a log of it, twice a day. Trying to take it every day once in the morning around 10 AM and once in the evening around 7 pm.

Alot of the guys that work for me drink Crystal Light. In the Air Force, we have to do a physical fitness test twice a year now. Everyone always worries about their weight, so it seems like water, crystal light, and sugar free Koolaid is what they drink. I hope that helps you.

Interesting, I have been drinking those crystal light 5 calorie things but I was told that because of aspartame (sp?) in it, that it's not something you should drink often.

I think the problem with soda is that it generally contains a good bit of sodium, which you want to avoid. Diet Sprite Zero isn't too bad, though. According to the Coca-Cola website, it contains 24 mg per 8 ozs... which isn't excessive. Just keep in mind that a can is 12 ozs and a bottle is generally 20 ozs.

Katey the soda-yes you have to be careful about the sodium too as Ducks said. And Crystal light is not bad at all. There is something bad in all the prepared foods we eat it seems-moderation is the key. Keep to clear soda so check out things like 7up but READ THE LABELS!!! Sometimes if you flavor your water like with fresh lemon it really does help alot.

The tinitis could be a side effect of your medications- call your pharmacy or MD and ask them to review your medications. Sometimes there is no reason for tinits and i am presuming you have spoken to your MD or go to a specialist (hearing doctor)

Katey, I agree with you about water. I don't drink as much water as I should and was always a soda person. But about a year ago, I started drinking green tea. Now I know what you're thinking, but hear me out. You can get flavored green tea. Crystal Light makes a Raspberry flavored mix. I eliminated the soda altogether (every now and then I have one). I use the Green tea as my "go to" drink. Eliminating the soda, drops the sodium level in your system big time. The green tea also has the benefits of being virtually caffeine free. It has helped me keep my bp under control (I don't use any bp meds, mine runs around 110/68 as an avg.).

Another thing you can do to help lower the bp is walk. No power stuff...just walk. It will force your heart to exercise and make your heart muscles stronger.

Try the green tea, but stay away from the regular ice teas. They have a lot of caffeine and that's not what you need.

Give Propel a try also. I absolutely love the grape flavored.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm watching and praying, Katey. I too have had some medical concerns that I thought might prevent me from getting my physical. I've passed that hurdle, now on to the next ones. Keep us posted.
