Yay! I am sure you will find a school/program that fits your needs. I wish you the best of luck and please, keep us updated

I know how you feel about being antzy! I am anxious to get past this permit/pre-hire interview/waiting phase and on to school/orientation/training lol.
Stay safe and enjoy the holidays!

He has been with Con-Way for just over 2 years (driving for between 3 and 4). He is currently driving a KW T2000 that they never took from him when he went from team to solo.

How have the miles been? How is the home time been for him?
-
He averages about 2400 he would guess. There are great weeks (3500+ miles) and not so great weeks (1800 miles) but thats with any company.
As far as hometime, we only go home about every month and a half to two months but when we do its usually for a week or so. They are good about getting us home within their 7 day highlight policy and we've only not made it by our 7th day twice since I've been on the truck. -
re:
might wanna look into medical card first. i know in my state; they want a medical card before they issue a permit, so they know you are physically fit to operate. they are generally good for 2 years; i would think the company would be fine if you got one in december n started classes in january.
On a separate note: it makes me smile to see someone young and ambitious. I'm proud of you for taking the initiative to do something with your life. Go Katey!Katey and scottied67 Thank this. -
I will call tomorrow and check into that, thanks for bringing that up as I had never even considered that possibility!
Also, thanks for the support and encouragement! I know I can do it if I give it 100% and have wonderful people like my boyfriend and all the posters here supporting me!
Take care and drive safe Ruthless!

Getting behind the wheel is one of the best decisions I made for myself. I absolutely love it. I have not driven since Monday because my industry is so slow, and I am going nuts lol.
Best of luck with your schooling, I bet you will enjoy the heck out of driving, especially if you get to spend it with someone you enjoy being around. That should make it even more entertaining.Katey Thanks this. -
Hope things pick up for you soon and you can get yourself a run
Thanks for the support and encouragement! I am really looking forward to driving, I am sure I will love it
Take care and stay safe!

Today I'm feeling pretty down.
The more and more I read on here, the more I think I might not get a pre-hire from Con-Way.
There are two things I found out might be problems that I didn't think about before.
One is the fact that I have pretty much no job history. I went from high school, to community college, then a 6 month period of nothing, then onto the trcuk as a passenger for the last almost two years. The only job I ever held was a summer job for like 5 months my senior year of HS.
The other thing I'm worried about is a speeding ticket I got in Dec 08. I don't remember the exact miles over I was doing but I know it was pretty bad (I believe 25+ over). I was driving in an unfamiliar area, talking on the phone, and not paying enough attention to the speed limit sign
I have no idea what I will do if I don't get a pre-hire from Con-Way. I don't wanna go to a different company because that would mean being stuck away from my boyfriend for who knows how long. I also don't wanna wait a year for that ticket to "fall of" and even if I did that would make the unemployment thing even worse :S
If anyone has any advice, bring it on! If anyone has been pre-hired with Con-Way with either of these types of things haunting them please let me know!
KateyThe Challenger and Wedge Thank this.
