Today was a lot like yesterday. Got to the yard around 7:45 AM. Hooked to a tank and did some more backing practice then it was off to Eastman to get loaded. This plant is so old some of the older loading stations aren't made for modern trucks. The only way to get to the first loading rack was to swing wide and actually run about 4 feet up a 45 degree gravel retaining hill. I can see why the company pays local drivers to spot loaded trailers from this company on the yard. You only get that kind of experience by doing it every day. Got back and went to lunch. Our second trailer had a flat so we had to take it over to the shop to be repaired. They swapped out a valve stem and pumped up the tire. Hope they did a good job because this load is going to Los Angeles Ca 2,400 miles away. It delivers Monday at 8:00 AM. Some driver will get a pretty good pay check off that load alone.

Am i correct in assuming thats a tanker outfit there?
-
You are correct. I see we live in the same town. Superior has a terminal in High Point. They are the 3rd or 4th largest liquid bulk carrier in the country.

I have really appreciated your posts. I got the job with Superior and I start on Monday. I have lots of butterflies in my belly!!! but I am so excited to begin.

Was your interview Monday 1/21? When I got to Kingsport last week there was a women who got there at the same time I did for an interview. I may have walked right by you. I think you are going to train with the same guy I have had this week. I will be back next week for the school. Will probably meet you then.

I live close to high point but i dont see no desire in running tankers! Good luck to you guys!

Ha! What a small world! Yes, I was there on Monday. I took the physical and drug screen and then the driving test. Whew! The office people were very nice. Based on your experiences thus far, I think I'll be okay with them. I did a lot of research, I wanted the best company I could possibly get into and I am fairly sure I got it!!

Hey BIGDADDY,
I went to CCS Semi in Fall Branch, TN. Cost 2700.00 plus about 300.00 for the dmv tests and medical tests. They were great. They have many recruiters come by while you're there at school. I know they also have an apartment for out of area students. It was fun and they won't let you down. -
wow they let students drive tankers now?
