I was mostly doing dryvan for the big three through them, KC trains at their yards, but for the Michigan one it's in flatrock.

When I was looking into cause I saw a billboard advertising training from them, and I started looking for info on them on the web they had a pretty small amounts to no of information of what it was like there.

I got all my info from a recruiter, which for the most part I didn't feel lied too at all even when I got out into my own truck.

It will be awhile before the Big 3 get back into full operation; probably months or couple years at the earliest.
Unemployed people can't buy new cars, even if they are getting unemployment checks.

Yikes, I was already worried about getting laid off it the automotive industry decided to tank, and now this is going on, and if it's gonna take them while to get everything up and running the I'm sure we'll be sitting for a quote a while waiting for all the auto plants to start to function, which frankly I do not have the time or patience to wait for, nor do I have will to keep dealing with unemployment at this time. I'll check out my contract and get some legal advice, then I'll probably start looking at companies to get into.

I dunno about that. Maybe it's because of the plant I pull out of, but GM Flint is ready and willing to run 1st shift starting the 27th. (if allowed). They stated to our management that they plan for the 2-3 weeks before suppliers are up and running enough to start 2nd and 3rd shift.
They could be optimistic, or not... It helps that even before the Michigan shutdown GM said they were going to shutter the Ft. Wayne and Arlington plants to make sure Flint had parts (if needed). Heck, they were still forcing Sundays because of low inventory/high demand up to the shutdown. One of the benefits of pulling into the GM plant that makes the company the most profit I guess.

As for the OP. Go ahead and file for unemployment. You might or might not get it from MI, but you will get the $600 week from federal.

Every driver should have a "next job" in their pocket at all times.

We can't read the trucking company's mind, such as it may be. Suppose all of us agree your position will be saved, no matter what, and when things get going again your company tosses everyone but their 20 most senior drivers? There's no money-back guarantee on free advice from strangers on the internet. This even is unprecedented. Nobody can know the real answer until it happens. The drivers working now may be laid off next week or their company may go out of business or pick up more business. In trucking sometimes those decisions are made and they forget to tell the drivers at the company. More than one driver has shown up at work only to find the place is closed and locked. Good luck to everyone. Have a plan if you are let go. Have a plan if you continue with them. That's the most you can do. Anxiety doesn't solve anything but it does make it more difficult to act rationally.

This response kinda encapsulates my thought process. I want to start on back up plan which have, but I don't want to jump the gun, cause I believe there is a 50/50 chance that either I'll get right back at my current company, or I'll be dropped. I just don't want to rush in and give the other company the false hope of me coming there when my company might just have us all come back.

As much as I hate sitting, and collecting unemployment, I don't mind waiting it out since everything here might open up in the next few weeks.
