Minimum weight?
-
Yep usually front axles are 18,000 20,000 lb fronts.Just wondering would a 12,000 or 16,000 lb front axle be safe for a tri axle.

When you open the drivers door there should be a sticker telling you what the steer axel is rated for and the size tires you should be running.State Regs for the roads you want to run on is another thing. If the road is not rated for that weight you need to stay off it unless you have the right permit

I know but can't make out the tag it's worn out. Would the vin# work to find out the front axle weight?
-
Yes they can give you the build sheet off the vin for the truck at the dealer

Ok cool

What size are steer tires? Most dumps have float tires on front so 18,000 fronts usually.

Most generally your 18000 and 20000lb front axles will have 2 steering boxes one on each side of the frame and large diameter king pins.
