Well there's about 1500 in parts. It's $4K at a local reputable shop. So if you get someone to do all that for 500 bucks you're the man.

Local shop is about $2500... Its not even that much in parts its just a gasket that needs to be replaced. Where do you get $1500 in parts? Parts should only be 3-400 just for the gaskets u will need.
-
I think he was talking about the cost of the front cover.
-
Well you're gonna drop the oil pan. That gasket is $320 to start, with a 20% discount from Cummins. You gotta pull the radiator, and take the entire front of the engine off. 1 or 2 gaskets and seals gonna be replaced there too. You're gonna lose all you're fluids. And it's a 24 man hour job.
So you go boy.
Not counting what may or may not get snapped off. -
It's the gear housing cover gasket. The right side has a space about 10 inches long between bolts. That's where it starts to leak. They don't even fool with it on a basic in frame cause it adds so much labor. But you save a lot doing it then, cause almost all the parts are already purchased and a chunk of the labor is rhetorical.
