Well if he goes with TMC he's deffinately going to have to go thru retraining to learn how to tarp and strap loads.I see you're from Alabama,it's pretty nice down there weather wise is'nt it?What about some local construction jobs?Wayne will make good money, far better then any otr job and also be home every day.I hate to rain on your parade but I highly doubt you'll find a decent OTR company as to why trucking has such a huge turn over rate. But whatever you and him decide, chances are he will have to retrain all over. The company he's at now, what is that like,is it a team company or many solos? What was it about them that you liked that made Wayne apply with them?

To pattyj* I got some suggestions this morning from Chinatown. I'm also going to reconnect with TMC & McElroy. We really aren't looking to "get rich quick" just looking for a decent company. Have you got any suggestions?

Well, we went with CRST on the advice of one of Wayne's instructors at trucking school, he told us they were a good "training" company. It's pretty difficult to know in which direction to go sometimes ya know? Everybody's got horror stories about somebody. Take my job for instance, I have been working for WalMart since 1998 & I would NEVER suggest anybody go to work for the company it has turned into, however there are some people I have worked with this whole time that will tell you what a MARVELOUS company WalMart is. Just depends on who you talk to. I am gonna make sure I find out from anyone we apply to if he will have to do retraining again though. As far as construction work goes for him around here that's not an option in our area. Unemployment in our area is unbelievably high! Everybody wants to hire the young people, the temporary, & the part-time. :( That's why even though WalMart is the pit of hell & Wayne's having a difficult time, we're both stickin' it out because it will get better.

Good luck with you both. I hope he finds a great company after all this or if he sticks with them, once he gets his own truck it will be better. It's good that he is on Phase 3 then, but it is still scary when on your own truck and having to know the how and why of trucking. I just hope he can get the qualcomm figured out, I know my husband wasn't trained real well with the 1st company he worked for in 2008, didn't know how to get to page 2 and that was where a lot of the route solution roads he was to go on were listed.

Sounds kinda like the guy that retrained me. Might bypass dispatch an go straight to safety. Not sure how it will go, CRST is real tough getting to the right person on the phone. He could send a mac 41, I think its forty-one, but the trainer would see it, that could make maters worse. Best to get permission to get off that truck ASAP. Hope he makes it home on time for thanksgiving. Lots of Luck to both of you !!!!

My apology. It sounded like he was frustrated, ready to quit, desperate, hated his situation and was looking for a proper legal means to cover his behind because he was just a trainee (with no rights) and turn the situation into a favorable one for your family. My mistake.

    Wishing you the best

Just thought I'd update. After taking all he could stand to take & his trainer getting worse as the days went on, my huaband now has a new trainer & he says the difference between the 2 is like daylight & dark! His new trainer is a pretty decent guy & he is actually teaching Wayne everything he needs to know without berating him & screaming at him every few minutes. So, he will be finishing his training soon & will stick with trucking. Said this before, but I feel it's worth repeating, Thank You for the advice & Honey Bee,Thank You, he doesn't have video on his phone, but on your advice he did record a couple of outbursts old trainer had! To be very honest, it's a good thing my husband is a lot more patient than I am because after hearing what I did, if I would've been on that truck & treated that way I'd probably be in jail right now! I've locked the recordings on a file on his phone just in case he may need proof of anything, but his fleet manager seems to be pretty decent & was very helpful getting hubby back on the road with a good trainer.

Glad to see that your hubby is feeling some comfort with another trainer. Comfort is the key to everything in this type of work and lifestyle. Money, food, sleep, weather, some R&R hear and their, and most important getting along with others just for safety's sake as well as peace of mind. Marry Christmas !
