    Show the law.

I have received no such document on my settlement sheets for months. I do not worry about it because the rate they pay is quite satisfactory.

Easy Guys... I know that this is a very touchy subject but remember we are supposed to be on the same side.
I firmly agree that there SHOULD be a law about the FSC. Shippers typically ARE paying for the FSC and the Brokers (private or corporate) are holding it back. Swift, Werner, Sni are not absorbing the total fuel cost on the loads they haul whether it be through company driver or LO. But most everyone not backed by a major carrier have no pull to "force" the issue. I suppose this is why I started this thread. To remind people that they should still be making the efforts to insure that we are not continueing to be abused into the poor house. Just because fuel is not $4.00/gl we should not forget about trying to change the system for the better. There were all the talks of strikes and petitions then but from what I can tell nothing has changed. Fuel is down and so are the rates. We all understand supply and demand but demand does not mean that rates should be at the same level as they were in 198?.. Insurance, tires, Parts and service, towing, nothing else is the same as in 198? why should the rates and FSC be any different. Keep writing the congressmen about the problems that are still there... Thats why I posted the graph. Anything over $1.10/gl deserves an FSC continue to fight for you rights because todays goverrnment is NOT going to help the little guy.....Its up to you and I...

Roadmedic you said your rates are fine and that is wonderful to hear but that is the exception not the rule. Also because it does not effect you does not mean that it won't in the future. Complacancy and "I look out for number 1" is why the industry is the way it is. Theres plenty of old timers that are turning in their graves to see what has happened to this industry. Trucking was once a brother hood. Now its just another cut throat business.

I don't need to reread a #### thing. The company can structure his settlement any way they want. They can tell him that a surcharge is built into the rate or they can tell him to bend over and take it. It doesn't matter.

He agrees to haul the freight as it is setup and at the rate that they are paying him. He can either continue to do so, or he can walk. Simple as that.

there is no law saying they have to have a FSC, broke out or otherwise.......if you know of one, show me

the government is not putting a FSC on most of its frieght at all (aa&e might be getting one, but FAK isnt, in fact they are forcing a lowering of the rates in the northwest)

as far as the comment about shippers paying dearly to have thier product moved......i dont believe it....i can see what they are willing to pay all day, and what little of it meets my minimun can go on the deck....if they dont want to pay enuf for my truck, then it can sit on the docks until some low-ball son of a gun needs to run

Holy cow, didn't mean to start firestorm with one statement. Basically with most grain companies they pay just a straight rate. You have to decide whether or not if it is enough. There is one grain company that pays the FSC they add it on to the regular rate. It changes weekly and you have to ask them what it is. Their total rate isn't usually much higher that the others rates.

With some grain companies you can say that rates are really low for fuel being so high. They might add a penny or two a bushel. Then they could go tell you tough, haul it or don't.

wheathualer........truckers will argue over the color of the sky dont ya know

i know congress was attempting to pass a FSC bill, but i dont think it ever made it

if the rates meets your minimum.......hual it
if not let it sit, and let the shipper whine about how no-one will hual his frieght he is "paying dearly to have shipped"

everyones minimum is different.....mine isnt too high, and i know some guys who have to have almost double what i can do it for, and one guy that can do it alot cheaper than i can

as far as companies breaking it out, yup its totally up to them
even then you still pay taxes on it as it adds into your gross

No, I don't think the bill passed either. yep, get into how much to haul for...and the sparks fly. I don't think any two truckers could agree or would admit to it.

Sparks? Hell, I haven't seen any sparks in here. I was just making a point based on facts and not my own worthless opinion. The same point using the same facts was also made by B.RonCrider a.k.a. SheepChaser, right after I said it.:biggrin_255:

BTW Bronc, you still sitting in Portland or did you find something to haul?
