When a company is paying FSC based on percentage, in this case 27%, how are they calculating the actual dollar amount?

Linehaul rate.
-
Typically at Landstar, we do 27% of the line haul. So take your total linehaul amount and divide it by 1.27, then take that number and multiply it by .27 and that will give you the amount of your rate that's going to your FSC.
Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
Linehaul 2.00 pm is fsc of .54 multiply linehaul * percentage. simple.
-
So for quoting reasons. If let's say I want to $1.75 + FSC. It would be $1.75+.4725 (27% of 175)

Mileage fsc is better for tl,percentage for ltl.
-
x 2
My fuel surcharge this week is $0.51 per mile based on $3.78 price of fuel ( lower Atlantic region) -
From what I am seeing it can go both ways. Mileage seems easier.
But this is how this shipper does it. There sand box, there rules. -
On percentage as the rate gets lower so does the fsc. Do a wide enough range of loads with the shipper and it evens out. Like you said, their loads their rules.

I like percentage SC. hauled one this summer for a goverment agency, FSC over 1.00 a mile another one I haul for them pays almost 200.00 FSC on a 4 mile load. Your tax dollars at work(in my pocket)
