Most steel haulers get paid by the hundred weight or flat rated. Our fuel surcharge is always a % of the gross. If I do a $1000 load the fuel surcharge is $250 if the fsc is 25% regardless of the miles.

Why not just qoute a rate including FSC? Why even mention it?

I'm a O/O that gets paid % so I always want it seperate because I get 100% of the fsc. It seems in my area that customers won't raise the actual rate to what it needs to be but will pay a higher fsc. We do have customers that don't pay a fsc but we try to get a high enough rate to make it worthwhile.
