In the winter, you get water freezing around here, and the windshield buckets get so much salt in them that if it looks too dirty, I pass, in the summer, it's dead bugs. Also a pass. I carry some good window cleaner and a scrubber/squeegee, have to keep that window cleaner from freezing, but it works much better.
A friend carries a bottle of dish soap to add to the buckets for the bugs.
