My company preplans fuel stops. They schedule us for low tax areas and to truck stops that have negotiated a fleet discount. Pilot/FJ even though, or maybe because they are 4 billion in debt this year, has not offered us the same discount that petro/ta and loves has.
No time stamp on your paper receipt? Does your cell phone have a rotary dial? You think you swiped a fuel card and there is no time associated with the transaction????
My company uses an automated log book inspection service. You can bet the fuel purchase details are provided to them to compare with what you logged.
Last time I heard it was illegal to charge more for credit cards. So, in Illinois, they advertise as less for cash.
As mentioned, definitely get the rewards cards. Fuel points are great. In less than a year I have $100 on my petro/ta card and I run local and don't even get that many miles logged per week. You can use them for the little luxuries of life on the road like a 12V to 110 inverter, something for cooking like a toaster oven or crock pot, a 12V fridge, CB etc...
But on top of fuel points you get shower credits! Showers are $8-12 dollars at most places. That is the cost of an entire artery clogging buffet meal!
