TCH has started laying people off. I don't know if it's connected to Flying J's bankruptcy or not but either way, not good.

Currently im using a mastercard flying j frequent fueler money card/debit card. I get the discount only at fly j Also i use a visa business credit card which i never get the fuel discount any where but i get reward points.

Is there a better way to go than fly j and visa?

There are other companies such as Comdata, EFS, and TCheck which are accepted at most truck stops and do not limit you to 1 particular vendor.

I am not sure about the cost structure of each of the cards but I believe EFS has lower fees than Comdata when it comes to fueling and advances. They also have a "cash" designation rather than a "credit" designation meaning you get the listed cash discount on the pump when fueling.

If I remember right OOIDA has a company or spin off company that handles fuel card purchases. The name was FleetOne. But what I do remember was that you get the cash price, no transacation fees unless you take a cash advance, and weekly deductions from your checking or savings account. The small company I was leased to ran this card and it worked pretty well. The week started on Friday night and ended the following Friday night. The Monday morning after the week ended you would recieve a email bill that stated what amount was being debited from what checking or savings account. The only charges (besides cash advance) that I knew about was if you didn't pay your bill in full weekly. In this case you would be charged interest on it till its paid. They even have certain mom and pop fuel stops that you can get even bigger discounts in the form of rebates that were dished out every quarter.

I did use the FleetOne card about 3-4 times a month, but I usually just carried cash. This way I could fuel anywhere I wanted to with no hassels. Now I just run Schneiders Comdata card since we get a little more discount than the cash price...but I hate the idea of them having their fingers involved.

We had the choice of com data or TCH...we went with TCH. the only transaction fee we have it the initial dep of the money on the card. 3.50. We have no fees per fuel up or cash advance only deposits. So we try to wait and get the advance on a large load vs. several small ones if the long runs are there to get the larger advance......We mainly use the J and TA we get cash price at both places.

Get on the cheque cashing lists at the places where you do business. It only takes a couple of weeks to get approved. I'm on with J, TA, Petro and Pilot. You can also get on with NATSO but they charge a yearly fee.

Those with their own authority: What fuel card are you using and why? Is it for a single operation or small fleet? (excluding a fuel card issued by a broker). Or has anyone used a fuel card in the past that they recommend?

We need all the info we can get..... there's so many fuel cards out there...

I used Fleet One out of Nashville,Tn. They run your credit and set up a direct checking account withdrawl 1 day a week. I got credit for $2000 a week, and the card is good anywhere. You get the cash price also. You can choose what day to have them do the withdrawl. This is for people that have a business head on their shoulders, not for flakes that are trying to beat the system. FYI
