I have a parksmart. Some trucks have them. Others don't and you idle. Some have opti idle. No company trucks (as far as I know) have a diesel apu.

I didn't make this thread about not being able to idle. I idle all the time. In fact my truck is idling right now and I'm not even slightly in it. It was more of trying to see if the performance metrics for the bonus were adjusted or not.

cooling as in what? Sni stopped buying parksmart units last year. wasn't cost beneficial to them even though it helped drivers. they also only went to southern fleet since northern fleet doesn't have the heat the south has. they are trying the opti idle tractors on some but it's limted trial and again only for ssouthern fleet..QUOTE="mindes, post: 5389018, member: 159780"]The new trucks have cooling, some older trucks do as well. My dbl hasn't said a word about idling, just that it affects your bonus.[/QUOTE]

and there lies the problrm.. and one of the reasons why Sni has eliminated the parksmart program. Drivers are idling instead of using the parksmart . If the unit isn't working get it fixed they will Ford it. they just gave mine a time up and it's nice n cold..

@moosc I run the parksmart into the ground every night. Problem with it is that if I don't idle while the temp outside is above 90 degrees, I have to crank it all the way up to try to cool the truck. And then it dies before my 10 is up. So yeah, when the temp is over 90 outside or when parksmart is dead, I idle. Otherwise it's running.

It's not designed to cool the whole truck just the sleeper.. get some sunshades for front n side windows. Close all curtains.

I have all that. Problem with cooling just the sleeper is that the front of the truck turns into an oven. Which makes my cooler into an oven. So, I use it to cool the whole truck. Only works under 90 degrees or so. It usually turns into a few hours of idling a day if not less. Meh, my fuel compliance is at 104%

You Americans need to grow some balls and stop driving.for those greedy companies.East Eutopean here driving for East European company.I don't know what fuel bonus is and I don't care.In the summertime there is always around 69 F in my truck.Right now I have APU in the truck but I also drove trucks without APU and idled basically 24/7.My truck is goverened at 76 mph and whenever conditions and speed limit allow I am flooring it.I don't care what my mpg is (it actually shows 5.8 mpg on a dash).Grow some balls and stop being cheap labor enduring inhumane work conditions.

The problem is that the parksmart doesn't keep up over 90? Ok, not to sound rude, but that is why you are allowed to idle over 90! Duh.

What do you mean by "allowed to idle"?If you lock the dog in not air conditioned truck you will be arrested for animal cruelty yet you will allow some office schmuck treat you worse than a dog?Seriously???
