One way to lower cost is get decent discounts off cash pump price. Just fueled in LaSalle, IL this morning...... .52 off the cash price. When state fuel tax factored out, price was $3.01 a gallon.

How did you get your all those discounts at the fuel pump?

    That's a tremendous amount you are saving!!:biggrin_25520:

Carrier I am with has some pretty decent discounts negotiated. Also, the carrier has a section on their website showing the discounts at every fuel stop in the nation. I just check the site to see who has the best discount along my run. Not one of those big mega carriers either. A 300 truck outfit out of Nebraska.

Update on LaSalle, Il on the website... discount is now .50 a gallon off the cash pump price. But the pump price is down a penney so fuel is only a penny more than the other day... 3.02 instead of 3.01.

It all fluctuates around. A person just has to check the website regularly and see who is doing the big discounts that day. Those kind of discounts and getting .48 fuel surcharge makes for some very low fuel costs.
