What truck/engine -
Company truck 2014 Volvo 670 with Volvo engine D13 and getting approximately 5.5 mpg.
-
What kind of weight are you hauling? 5.5 isn't very good unless your heasy haul

I'm averaging 9.09 for the last 30 days running toronto - Ottawa with an avg payload of 40,000 lbs

Look at your fuel burn per hour. IF you have a choice at running speed of 100Km/hr at top speed in top gear. Try to run 95Km/hr just above torque and just enough fuel to the engine to keep it turning over.
Im assuming you have a long grade in your face either that or strong sea breeze twice a day leaning on your truck. When combined with long upgrade your fuel burn per hour get ups. -
try running 90km.
I did this for a day, and notice a huge difference -
Have you had your air intake system tested for leaks? Or had your valves set?
-
There are enough red Manitoulin mobile road blocks doing 90 slowing everybody down. Do we really need more of these
-
Cruise control kills your fuel economy if there are many rolling hills and grades, since it gives 100% power when climbing.
