Fuel is getting cheaper

you should get em to refigure the cost plus price for you, our cost plus price for example at Remington, in was 2.54

 

I paid $2.12 after discount the other day. In TX or OK I don't remember. Now I'm up north paying $2.82 for fuel that kills my MPG

 

OPEC is flooding the market trying to drive out North American competition, which admittedly can't produce as cheaply. I don't think it will work though.

Short term its great news for consumers and business that rely on fuel. Global demand is way down due to struggling economies in Europe and Asia so we could be entering into an extended period of cheap oil and fuel. (Long term it does us no favors but that another subject...)

 

I know it sounds funny, but as fuel cost go down I make less extra money from FSC That's how FSC was designed to work !

 

I know what you're saying, and I personally have a competitive advantage when it comes to mpg, but higher fuel costs slow the economy which means less freight & lower rates...

 

Oh I agree 100%. For an economy like Japan that has been in recession for some 20 yrs now and is 100% dependent on imported oil. This is the break that they need. For most of us lower oil is great news and it brings many positives to the transportation industry.

My statement wasn't meant to suggest that I want prices to sky rocket again (altho looking at it, it does state just that). High prices can really hurt independents and O/O that don't have the advantage of huge fuel discounts AND a high (6.6+) mpg truck.

when fuel surcharges are high, you spend more on fuel, its about a wash in that respect. that seems to be a .90 cents a mile plus surcharge way of looking.

our load board gives a per mile that is to the truck with surcharge and all included. when the settlement is done you get the breakdown of everything.

but its all revenue and all the bills get paid out of the same pocket, I am getting rates that are staying consistent no matter what the fuel surcharge is.

no, it was still 5 dollars a gallon.
