Well to be honest with you No I havent been to the HOOK in Phoenix I...ME personaly tend to STAY away from the MAJOR chain stops as that is where everyone and their brother tries to get into..but that has happend to me at the petro in Ruther Glenn Va...so I found an area away from the fuel island that wasnt blocking anyone else stopped ran in got my coffee and split...but hey thats just me....I Personlly find the Little Mom and pop T\S usually have plenty of parking and usually have a Hell of a lot better coffee than the major chain stores...See I bought this little truck stop directory for $4.00 and it LIST every T\S in the USA and then I pre plan where I will be stopping before I even leave out...

Heck I dont know.....Maybe I just call it concideration for the driver that needs fuel...As much as I hate having to wait for some #### to pull out of the fuel island cuz he is taking a shower or ording up enough chow for 3 people. I wont do something to you I dont want happing to me...Plus I find it nice to get out and walk a few hundred yards. as some days its all the exercise i'll get....

Because you never know when you'll be in line and someone has trouble with a fuel card, or you have to wait in line for dinner. Pulling forward should be a limited thing.
This should be considered unacceptable at all times. You never know how many trucks are going to show up while you are "dropping your load".
I use the standard of being pulled forward no longer than it would take me to fuel my truck. If that means there is a big line at the counter and I just want some cigs and a pop I'll leave. I don't like to be held up and in turn I don't want to hold anyone else up.LandShark Thanks this. -
I was at the loves in horse cave ky waiting for a shower and can not tell you how many times they made an announcement to please pull up and if you are not fueling please find a parking spot drivers are waiting to fuel...

Just curious....and how many open parking spots were there...I bet atleast 10 or more...just shows how lazy and inconsiderate some folks are..

In my opinion, it's entirely inconsiderate to other drivers when one pulls into the fuel island for anything but dealing with fuel, checking the oil/washer fluid/etc, washing the squashed bugs off of the windshield, etc. Complete your business and pull forward. And yeah, pulled half way through the fuel island to where the reefer tank is next to the pump is usually a sign of pumping fuel into said tank - but still, pull forward when you're done.
If one has 5 minutes of stuff to do in the truckstop - bathroom break, coffee and go - then fine. Pull through the fuel island, but don't block it. Longer than 5 minutes means it's time to show off that billybigrig parking skill, and git it in a proper parking place. And that doesn't mean blocking the scale, or the exit, or someone else's truck!
I've seen a line at the Pilot on I40 in Oklahoma City form all the way back onto the exit ramp from the highway because a couple of inconsiderate, selfish jerks parked their rigs in the lines to the fuel island so they could go do whatever it is that was so important that they couldn't bother to park properly. On this occasion, neither one of these ###holes actually fueled, but just left after causing a traffic jam. And that's not the only experience I've had like that - it's a common occurance. -
at least 20 from what I saw when I pulled in. Probably more that I did not see.

I expect the guy in front of me has 10 minutes or so on the fuel island. I don't care how he uses it and not personally nosey enough to know if he's fueling or not. It's not the only legitimate reason to need to stop at a truck stop and these are the only temporary parking areas the stops have.
A shower would be just ridiculous though and I doubt that ever really happens on any noticeable scale.Roadmedic Thanks this. -
not sure about that... I seem to find the ones doing their re-start...

Going by the info you have posted on yourself you only have 1 year out here...not sure if thats the case or not...but believe me the longer your out here the more you'll notice it.....start doing this....once your parked and are heading inside just notice all the trucks on the fuel island and when ever your done and heading back out....look again I would be willing to bet you atleast one maybe two of the trucks you saw on your way in 45 min to an hour ago on your way in will still be there on your way out...I have seen it to too many times...PharmPhail Thanks this.
