I'm running a 2007 columbia,10 speed auto smart shift, run cruise every chance i get and don't manually shift it unless its straight up a steep drive. Don't idle unless I have to stay cool, have a little heater diesel furnace. I pull loads of paper from me. to wisconsin of 44 to 46 thousand and average right near 7,if lighter I can get 8,have a mercedes and low pro fronts and super single michillens on drivers. I once ran a new pete with a cat engine and ran with another company truck pulling flatbeds with 48000 lbs, about equal loads,he never hardly used his cruise,I always use it,on the trip from savanna ga,over fancy gap and allthe hills to cleveland ohio,on the complete turnaround I averaged almost a gallon more than he did per miles traveled, because on cruise you get 18 to 25 hp more on cats and detroits, plus the steady computerized throttle makes a big difference, both were ten speed manuals with low pros.
