Fuel mileage...

    Running as an 8 axle empty Im getting 5.1 MPG, loaded is hovering around the 3.1 mark.

    i get good fuel mileage with my 8 axle setup. it burns a heck of alot of fuel for the mileage i do!!! no such thing as good fuel mileage haulin heavy!

    My old 13 axle setup was @4.5 empty, and "you dont want to know" loaded. Remember one load going across 80. Fuelled in Big Spring,Ne and was at half tanks when I stopped at the POE in Wy. Not fun...

    Too true! And that was when fuel was just over $1 a gallon....can't imagine it now!

    I run Co truck winch tractor 4ax with 3 to 5 ax trailers empty weight min 65k ISX 550 18 speed 3.91 rears every time I check the computer no matter what empty load overall mpg 3.1 to 3.5 range

    Buddy of mine was running over the southern Rockies in Colorado headed towards Craig with an excavator, grossing right about 200,000lbs. I think he said his average was somewhere in the 2mpg range.

    What is interesting is if you start calculating your fuel mileage per ton mile. For the weight you haul, you may be getting better fuel mileage per pound than a freight hauler.

    I have to disagree with you Markvfl. there is a lot of good paying rgn freight if you stay away from the idiot brokers who can't spell RGN. 6/7 axles do us just fine. 8 axles usually better. but as always the right place at the right time matters.

    8axles 600isx 4:10 rears 24.5 rubber 315 upfront. 4mpg at 147K pa to Houston. 5.5 if I'm under 100k. Denver loaded heavy 2.5-3
