There would be a catch with CAT doing the dyno for free you could sell tickets at the door they would love to see it destroy itself.I dont think any one would be interested in my old injectors and ECM do you think there could be a market for them on e-bay?

HA, yeah you can get a decent hunk of change for the injectors as they are getting pricy. If you wanna sell your stock C-16 ecm let me know, ill buy it from ya, i have a guy who can play with them and i have some settings up my sleeve id like to play with and see how they work.
I tried to get a dyno day organized at first CAT liked the idea but then they didnt want anything to do with a bunch of highly modified engines. They are really scared of the EPA nazis. -
Whats the EPA???At the moment the only restrictions on emissions is that you cant import anything before 2004 or smoke while its idleing under load its all right
-
Enviromental Protection Agency, they are the azzholes who set all these stupid laws in effect and are also responsible for killing the all mighty 7CZ C-16 600hp Caterpillar.
-
lol I noticed on mine when I picked it up from the port it had "FOR EXPORT ONLY"that explains why,Dont want them nasty old engines wercking the USA.No wonder you call them nazis
-
They are nazis, its all freakin california doing it to! If i went there in the KW they would lock me up and throw away the key after i smoked up their state lol.
Now we have the 625hp ACERT CAT, but that 625 doesent even compare to the bad boy C-16. That was the baddest of all in my book. I need to find one and add it to my barn collection of engines

Looks like this is my last new truck then,There is another Western Star like mine same spec I might wait till it comes up for sale and have two the same.Back to fuel after I sort the manifold out I hope to get 5.2mpg thats good over here.
That would save me $2200nzd a month on fuel over the stock engine makes $22,000nzd not such a bad investment. -
Thanks 550, I understand that I can't put a single turbo manifold on a 2 turbo setup. What I meant was extrude hone the stock manifold to keep the warranty going.
I didn't understand that 700HP/1900 to 2000ft lbs torque is a small engine! I thought that was pretty stout, BUT - if there's more there to be had without spending a fortune or voiding the warranty I'm all for it
I'm gonna stop shooting off my mouth until the papers are signed and I'm behind the wheel
-
You will just waste money on extrude honing the manifold, it wont help much. Just leave it stock and get the wires until warranty expires. A 700hp acert should be 2200-2300lbs of torque as well, and yes, thats not enough in my book

830 i wont buy anything new myself, the new engines past 03 turn me off. I can make a acert run but why when i can start out with a single turbo and save money right off the bat.Markvfl Thanks this. -
I was reading your posts about 3406B's. I have a friend running a 96 Pete that was ordered with a 425 3406C. He pulls a double drop. He's running a 13 double over with 3:55's and 24.5 rubber. He has it turned up but its all stock. He's getting 4.8 - 4.9mpg and trying to figure out how to get more w/o yanking out everything and going to an E. It's a REAL project. I suggested he trade trucks but he's emotionally involved with the her so he won't even consider that. (she is pretty!) Anyway, he's 71 years young and learning to drive like a Modern Man hehehe. I rode with him a few weeks ago and he really ran her easy so the low mpg is not from heavy footing.
Is there a way to get E type mileage from a C?
