Double, You must be the only one with light loads , flat land & a tail wind

my last loads were 44k ,43k 35k & 44k ( throw on one 275 mi dead head (which I had to idle all night in Canada ) I'm nearly at 6.0 for the last 2400 mi )

Haven't had a ton of flat land -- 0 to 4000 to 0 to 7000 etc but the last 3 loads have been light: 11,900, 8,900, & 8,450. Had a 440-mile deadhead too. Very little idling. 9.6mpg for those 2500 miles

Day sleeping helps limit the idling -- shut truck off at 10* 30min after adding half a bottle of howes feeling confident it'll start 8 hours later when its 25* (though I don't always want to get out from under the covers right away...)

But now that I'm away from west coast speed limits I've slipped to #2 in the rankings. Could actually go slower on this load, but I need to average at least 59 if I want to squeeze in a reset before monday delivery...

I have now earned an astonishing $0.78 in points (all of which came today I think). Dropped to 250th for the week thanks to 65mph 47,000lb dog food runs. But still in the top 50 for the month...

274 points now... So perhaps $10/week worth of points assuming you find something of value in the store. Its a nice gesture, but that's not adequate compensation for slowing your cruising speed:

    65mph: 7.5mpg
    62mph: 7.8mpg

@3500 miles/week, the 62mph driver works an extra 2 2/3 hours compared to the 65mph driver, but saves Con-Way 18 gallons/week in diesel (~$68 at today's prices). For that effort, he's given enough points to buy something with a MSRP of $10. That works out to ~$2.75-3.85 per hour (depending on how much value you assign msrp).

On the other hand, the 65mph driver can do 169 miles with that extra 2.6hours, making $68 in the process.

Cliff notes: progressive shift to top gear then hammer down...
