I'm all for mandating complete transparency in the broker area when it comes to price. The driver has to be able to know the exact amount the shipper is paying the broker to move the load and to know haw many brokers it has been through and the rates each of them are taking. From there if the trucker is stupid enough to take a load that is loosing 25% to broker fee's it's his own fault.
You could also set a maximum percentage the brokers are allowed to take and make it include ALL brokers so they'd have to split it. That would put a quick end to bottom feeding brokers. There are way too many broker out there who don't have a customer of there own they just rebroker loads from other brokers

That would just make it harder on every one else
Life is about selling your self
Some do better than others, some get richer than others.
    Thats a free economy
Making life even for every one was tried in Russia

Who was that poster that said if you don't like what the brokers are paying, go bid the work your self?

Well your ideal has about much motivation as the "strike proposals" does from the trucking community..

First I never said one thing about fixing fuel prices
Second I have said plenty on this matter and offered solutions.
Third you proposal is undermining companies business tactics such as J.B Hunt, Schneider National, Werner, Swift ext.. Companies where their entire business outlook is based on cut throating... Your NOT going to convince these companies to change their entire business strategies that has worked for them for many years.. They simply will tweak a few things and continue cut throating and keep putting a hurt on small business owners...

So, your proposal has a huge flaw that will not be overcome...........

Only a goverment mandate will work far as rates are concerned...
Even then with the Billions the companies above have to lobby congress, they still will come out on top...

Your proposal for unity amongst one of the most competitive forms of business is not realistic or achievable.. Only regulations would work in such an environment as it is now..

Thats my point. People need to start posting there annual salary divided by the hours worked to show what a O/O actually makes makes.

    One driver posted his:
    On road= 333 days
    HomeTime=2.6 days/month
    Gross Personal Revenue= $74,087
    Miles Driven= 151,027
    $.49/cpm all miles
at 80 hours/7 day week HOS
less taxes, SS, MED, Ins........ Lets see someone else do that job.

Truckerjo, I have reviewed your posts for the last five days and other than the one stating "cut foriegn aid" I do not see any helpful suggestions to the problems we are discussing---- Fuel costs, poor cpm, and not recieving full FSC. If I overlooked something you posted as a suggestion I am sorry. Please feel free to repost your suggestions to the problems being discussed. We would all love to hear your suggestions.
