Minimum wage from 1985 was $3.35/hr
    Minumum wage for July 24th, 2008 $6.55/hr

Has your pay rate reflected this?

Jo Forgive me if I am missing it, my brain is scambled from all of this. You said you sumed up your position in this post. Are you saying you think we need regulations? If so what would you suggest be regulated? Just trying to understand....and again I will state that I do not have the answer, only ideas open to be sliced and diced. Thats the only way we can figure something out.

Hey, I have been reading these boards for a while but I have never posted until now. My husband and I bought our own truck back in August 2007. We thought we were going to be able to make more money owning our own truck and leasing. Fuel was 2.77 in September. We started out making money. But now, we have parked it and my husband went today to check on a job driving for someone else and their truck. We didn't go into this O/O blindly. My parents were O/O and had been making good money. The company we drove for paid .80 base rate and most of the loads we left with had an average .43 surcharge. But when we would get in FL or MI and everywhere else, we would have to get broker loads which paid us .20 fuel surcharge. This is what it was when fuel was 2.77. There was no increase in anything except fuel prices! My husband and I enjoyed OTR and thought we would be able to actually start saving. Wrong! Our average CPM is .79 Just wanted to post and let someone no that us O/O are really hurting here.

    OK understandable

I on the other hand want a smaller government
Democrats at their core really do care, they are just short sighted on what their give to the poor take from the rich will do
To do what they want will take bigger government and more laws

To take away the freedom of the many to protect (help) the poor will be the down fall of democracy

To do what many of the truckers are talking about would be considered illegal by the same thought process fulfilled in non democratic countries

Like Hannidy (Spelling?) would say let freedom ring

I'm sorry your first post needed to be on this thread but I guess that is a sign of the times.
