Like the others said have to watch how much you fuel on the ending of the pay week.
But what gets me is the trolls on this like stink on sh=%. I understand why they hate ( strongly dislike) lease, but why do they not try to help out a little and say it could be because this or that. Most likey "some" of the above posters would watch a swift truck or any trucking company for that matter. Try to get in a tight spot in a truck stop instead of helping, just sit in there truck and watch and laugh and take pictures if they did hit anything.....ok sorry for rant been off my meds....carry on
fuel question

Thanks guys. I already knew who would give actual advice, as i have been following this site for information for a while.
"semi" retired Thanks this. -
Buy to much fuel this week. And you carry it into next week, it all comes out in the wash.
Buying by Price ,location and quality I get that. Buying fuel by the load I don't get..... -

I still feel as though there is some missing info here. Fueling shouldn't be an issue on a 3,200 mile week with no lease payment. He still shouldn't have gone in the negative. Unless as squeak mentioned he had a previous negative settlement from the first week if he started the lease in the middle of the pay week. All deductions without the lease payment should only add up to about $500-$600 or so, so even if he payed for a full 200 gal at the end of the week it wouldn't put him into the negative. I'm thinking maybe he thought he ran 3,200 miles but didn't quite deliver before close of pay week and had less miles on his current pay week.

I dont think he had negatives the week before because he was still talking up how on only 3 runs he had made over $2000 and that was with issues with his prepass and unwanted time off. All i know is he was fueling his truck every night when he stopped and so he pinpointed that to his issue. His dm is trying to help him figure out what happened and offer advice but she has never drove herself.

But here's the real kicker, what's his model telling him ... he shouldn't have gone into business without a model, bouncing his statement against his model should tell him where he is awry. Basic business analysis is essential. If he can't read his statement and understand what's happening, he is destined to fail. -
In the real world these guys are being honest and upfront asking for help knowing that when they do they can learn and succeed. It is hard admitting failure to your peers, but they do it anyways. Many men here are successful whether they are company drivers, L/O or O/O. They learned from trial and error, and from others on this board who were willing to share from their own experiences. And Success for some is more then money.
Glad your so smart that you didn't fall for one of those lease deals. A lease has other benfits besides more money, it has freedoms that a company driver just doesn't get, and that some are willing to pay for. Just like being an Owner comes with huge pitfalls and deficits that some don't want to deal with, like the holier than thou attitude. -
What Witchy said so true. I would not want to be a O/O an have all of those headaches, especially if the truck has a serious breakdown and out for some time. At least here if a serious breakdown I can get a loaner and not have to go and rent a truck to keep moving.
