Hello, I'm trying to replace my fuel shut off solenoid on my 1996 international 4700. I have 3 wires, 2 have continuity to ground and one has 12.6volts. i hooked it up off a schematic I found online and it worked for a few minutes then started getting hot. I don't know if I should have 2 wires with power or just the one. If you can help that would be awesome. Thank you

    Wire 1: ground
Wire 2: 12V when key is on
Wire 3: 12V when starter is engauged
There are two windings in the solenoid. 2 does not draw much current but has enough power to hold the plunger in. 3 draws a lot of current and is strong enough to pull the plunger in, then 2 holds it. If 3 has power all the time it will burn up in a short period of time.

    Heavyd Thanks this.
