I trying to understand the fuel surcharge... I get the calculation.

What I don't understand is when a O/O state... " I don't run for less than $2.00 per mile" Do most o/o include the FSC in their calculations?

The other scenario I haven't figured out... " the load board (or broker) only has $1.20 loads " Do quotes on a load board or from a broker include the FSC? Or is the FSC added later on top of the quote.

Thanks for taking the time to help me understand

Fuel surcharges only apply to long term contract freight, not spot market freight, so most broker freight does not have a fuel surcharge.

When most brokers quote a rate it is all inclusive unless stated otherwise. Too many get caught up in the fsc when it is the total rate that is important. The fsc is more important to help offset spikes in fuel costs. If you agree to a $1.50/mile rate with a $0.50/mile fsc it is still only $2.00/mile. So if you take a load for $2/mile the money is the same.
