Only other possibility is the cap seals and the distribution block.

Thanks for the explanation. I am working on a customer International Dump truck and he is saying that his fuel consumption he noticed is getting high. I was looking for an answer about how the fuel tanks level are equalized and i found it. Thanks

¿Alguna ayuda? [/ QUOTE]

while I feel all of you guy's pain....I have a '17 Pete with 60k miles on it and my tanks don't equalize. I have a hard time believing my lines are plugged, cracked vents plugged....any of that stuff. It happened on the very first trip. Took it back and of course all they did was change the splitter. Works sometime and sometimes no....I'm putting a crossover back on. Sometimes newer technology isn't better. It works fine in the design room but not so much in the field.

Hey Every1. I work for fuel hauling company having about 10 bunk 389 2017/18 Pete's with 120 gal drivers and 105gals on passenger side and one daycab 2018 with 100gall pass and 85gal drivers side tank. All of them show the same behaviour with fuel gauge - always drivers side tanks show lower fuel level - with difference about 1/8 to 1/4 of tank capacity between them. But daycab goes beyond everything - can show red light reserve while passenger side is still 3/4 -7/8 full!! Today in daycab had 1/4 left on drivers side while passengers was showing full. Have closed valve on top of drivers tank - it started gaining on drivers side and lowering on passenger - less then 1/8th in hour idling. Then drove for 150kms (about 100miles) and had drivers side showing slightly above half and passengers- below half. Then I moved valve to about half open (45 degrees from open and close position). After 80kms/50 miles had drivers side fuel level lowering a bit quicker then passenger side . So I've set valve on drivers side to about 30degrees from fullbopen position (restricting flow by 1/3rd and leaving flow open to 2/3rds) and with this setting I have arrived to town after another 100kms/60 miles with leveled fuel in both tanks.
Ideally fuel feed and return should work at the same flow rates. Whatever reason it is not working this way it looks like restricting flow for the quicker draining tank could help in this case. Our tanks get leveled when trucks are parked 9n flat surface and engine switched of so transfer pipes are working ( can see this when truck leaning to one or other side - fuel flows to lower sitting tank.
Beside all mentioned before potential problems with tanks not equalizing fuel level my guess is that there are T type fittings used that can cause differences in fuel flow rates- tank connected in straight line will drain faster then other connected at 90 degrees angle - it could be eliminated with Y fittings, I suppose , so flows would be simmilar. Same thing is with windshield washer fluid- always passenger side gets better , stronger spray. Guess why? T type fitting in straight line to passenger side and at 90 degree angle to driver's side? Good luck everyone :)
