    Exactly. If they want your fuel, they'll get your fuel. They can simply snip the crossover hose, remove the drain plug, cut/punch a new hole, pry off the cap, or whatever else they decide to do...and the more difficult you make it for them, the more likely they are to cause damage...ESPECIALLY if it looks like you care about your equipment.

    I'm of the mind that they can't steal what you don't have. If I know I'm going to spend the night out on the road, I fuel early in the day so I have less than 1/4 tank when I park for the night. Then, while I HAVE a locking cap for the visual discouragement (if they're looking for an easy target), the internal locking mechanism is removed so that IF they choose to steal my fuel, it is easy for them to pop the cap and see a whole lotta nothing inside and just move on.

    I have had fuel stolen twice in 10 years. The total replacement value of the fuel taken has been far less than the cost of replacing a tank or repairing a damaged one.

    @tucker say
    It better to park between 2 Mega company truck who have no reason to steal than to park near owner op.

    Unfortunately, you are right. Both times for me, store video showed an o/o backing in and leaving shortly after. But neither time could one see someone actually stealing the fuel. Too dark to see.

    Y’all keep forgetting... it only takes one spiteful person to contaminate your fuel system with sugar or something... slim chance but why gamble the $100 on locking caps?? Beyond me. Just saying

    It's worth. One Monday I started my truck and I thought my fuel gauge was showing empty. Someone emptied my 2 120 gallon tanks.
