Saw a couple guys that tried exactly what you’re talking about.
Lasted a few weeks, then saw them leased on with local carriers. Never spoke with them, as they were headed out, and I’ve never caught up with them at the racks.
Many companies will let you lease on with them, get your cards, and run for them.
It’s a solid way to get started on your own, though i cannot speak to how the money is. -
Maybe the OP can make it as a sub hauler and I agree it's a good place to start. He might not like what he's getting for rates though. I hate being the guy that rains on somebody else's parade but this business is a lot tougher than it looks from the outside. -
Rumors say 70%of the load to the truck.
Knowing what i make and what other drivers make, there’s no way i would go o/o in gas.
It would be a sizable pay cut with more headaches and hassles than it’s worth.
Chemical would be an option, as it tends to pay better than gas.77fib77 Thanks this. -

Jobber is slang for someone who sells oil / diesel retail to whoever. Like farms or homeowners. They have their own delivery truck like a six wheeler with the reel of hose on the back. The larger ones might even have a bulk plant……
ive been in the tank business for over 40 years and I’d say forget it…..
Haul cement or sand or whatever but gas and oil is a lost cause unless you have very deep pockets….
