Is it like a regular check? Where you can cross out anything on the check, re print what it should be, then initial next to it?

Mistakes will happen and it is a learning experience, takes time.
Best way to avoid the lumper pay issue is to haul loads that say no touch.Leftlane101 Thanks this. -
Maybe I'm missing something, but why not just write out a new check with the same number and tear the other one up? I've done that before due to typos since like mentioned above, they can not accept checks with corrections. I don't get why you're having to call them up about this. Did they already call and get the check authorized before looking at the name on it? That's the only thing I can think of but I didn't see you mention that they had.
Like someone else said, don't ever fill out who it's going to. They'll take care of that.
Regardless, your company should be able to cancel the one you had problems with getting transferred after the error. I've had two express codes sent to me a couple of times for the same lumper due to computer issues and a quick call in the morning to payroll fixed it. -
If the check is already authorized when you want to make the changes, you're up the creek. You can't write another check against the authorization number because that's tied to the check number that you activated the check with. Check numbers are pre-printed, and can't be changed.
All this is done to prevent check fraud. -
Wish companies would take a stand and not deliver to receivers that have lumpers. After all its their stuff.
Leftlane101 and mje Thank this. -
True but never going to happen, that is why every load I pick says no touch live load or unload.
-
Everytime I go to a lumper customer,I do everything in my power not to tell them exactly whats on my mind.I tell my company or broker I haul for instead.
-
Yeah, I know that which is why I mentioned it. Like I said, he never actually said that is what happened but can be pretty much assumed from what he had to go through. But you know what they say about assumptions. When I said use the same number I meant the express code.
Either way the company should be able to get it straightened out. -
Not true. Terms are FOB... Free On Board. The "stuff" is yours until it's on the dock, or accepted subject to count. How you get it off the trailer is your problem, because it's YOUR stuff!
