Sounds to me like you are not currently unmployed and so are looking to make a career change to trucking.. So, if I were you I would take my time and do plenty of research and create a plan.. don't lt the thrill and excitment of it get you in a hurry.. sometimes.. actually most times, the extra time and effort pays off in the long run.. there are a lot of peeople who rushed in only to take a huge fall and end up in debt financially and emotionally..

Give this some thought.. there were 7 people in my CDL class.. of those 7.. only 1 is still in the trucking industry.. that would be me.. most did not make it through the training, and the last one just had an accident.. a roll over.. got fired and has not been able to get on with another company... i talked to him last week and he just went back to his old job that he left to become a trucker.. although, he lost his seniority, benefits and took a pay cut...

I am not saying this to discourage you... I am glad that I got my CDL and am working on making a career out here.. has not been easy and I hav had set backs.. So, I am just saying.. take your time to do research and creat a plan.. and a plan that allows for set backs... dont be another one of those who jump in to giv it a try only to be chewd up and spit out.. having to file for banckruptcy and start all over with less than what they had...

I really appreciate your detailed reply and concern! However, My father passed when i was 11 years old, he was a O/O my uncle was also an O/O he took care of me and i went on the road with him for 3 months every summer until i graduated highschool. I moved up to washington state and now im 26 with a full time minimum wage job cooking. Leaving this for anything would be better at this point. I need to start my retirement and be a big boy. I understand what it takes to be OTR *for the most part! i understand its much different* I really just want to make sure that i am setting myself up for the best possible success before i make the "jump" which isnt going to be very big.
